The purpose of the study is to improve the theoretical and methodological provisions, the formation of scientific and methodological support for the effective functioning and development of the financial services industry. The subject of research is the theoretical and practical aspects of the development and formation of the financial services industry in modern conditions. The main objectives of the study: 1) research of methodological bases of development of the industry of financial services, definition of essence and classification of financial services; state of state regulation; 2) determining the features of assessing the innovative availability of services of non-banking financial institutions in Ukraine; 3) analysis of the impact of innovations on the state of competitiveness of financial institutions and banks; 4) development of strategic principles for the development and efficiency of the financial services industry; 5) determining the impact of digitalization of the economy on the availability of financial services for the population in Ukraine; 6) development of recommendations for improving the mechanism of regulatory identification of financial companies as financial intermediaries. The main functions of financial intermediation in modern economic systems are determined: transformational, security, redistributive, information, portfolio, evaluation, monitoring, coordination. The main factors of institutionalization of the financial services market are identified. The interpretation of the term "financial innovation" is formulated, which allows to take into account the main structural elements of financial innovations, their role and functions in the activities of financial markets and institutions.
