We proposed lyotropic chromonic liquid crystals (LCLCs) as ideally suited for printing over flexible substrates, because their aligned structure is shaped by weak noncovalent forces. In result of the project it was determined how to control the aggregation and self-organization of lyotropic chromonic liquid crystal (LHRC) molecules in solutions, single-layer and multilayer films as well as to adapt macroscopic semiconductor properties for use in humidity sensors. Flexible humidity sensors with a response time of electric current to high humidity less than 100 ms have been developed; recovery time is about 10 s, current fluctuations exceed three orders of magnitude within 40% -90% humidity change. A feature of the proposed approach is that the sensitive element can be printed on a flexible substrate. Such sensor devices have numerous technological advantages, such as ease of production / integration, as well as a corresponding reduction in costs.
