The object of research is the midification effect on the neutralization of iron-containing phases harmful effects on aluminum alloys mechanical and technological properties. The main research methods included analytical evaluation of available scientific and technical information and theoretical research of cast aluminum alloys complex modification and refining problems. As a part of the research, an analysis of literature sources was made and it described the use of secondary raw materials to obtain high-quality aluminum castings. The existing principles of secondary silumins modification by various components are considered and analyzed, and also the principles of complex modifiers development are investigated. It was found that some transition metals, such as cobalt and chromium, in combination with manganese and separately have a positive effect on changing the morphology of harmful iron-containing phases. The influence of some refractory metals - vanadium and molybdenum - is analyzed and it is shown that separately they are able to have a noticeable modifying effect on all major structural and phase components of iron - contaminated silumins. The researches that develop a direction of complex modification of the studied materials are analyzed and the high urgency of this direction is confirmed.
