The object of research is the ecosystems of the Black and Baltic Seas. The purpose of the work is to develop a methodology and practice for monitoring the marine environment of the Black and Baltic Seas on the examples of the descriptor "2 - Invasive species" and the descriptor "5 - Eutrophication": prospects for unification of assessment approaches. Research methods - hydrobiological, remote and bio-optical. Approaches to the monitoring of the marine environment of the Black and Baltic Seas on the examples of the descriptor "2 – Invasive Species" and the descriptor "5 – Eutrophication" and unification of the assessment methods of these descriptors have been developed. The communication of the project participants took place in the form of online meetings, iinternational conference and external working meeting of the Ukrainian and Lithuanian teams. Possibilities of estimation of various indicators of biological invasions, remote methods of research of marine ecosystems and corresponding bio-optical algorithms are compared. The sensitivity of morphofunctional indicators of macrophytes for estimating the degree of eutrophication of marine waters according to the standards of the EU Marine Strategy Framework Directive in the Baltic Sea has been confirmed. The obtained results contribute to the development of methods of ecological assessment of the ecosystems of the Black and Baltic Seas, can be used in the development and improvement of marine water monitoring systems in Ukraine and Lithuania.
