Their characteristics of microhardness, corrosion resistance, wear resistance in the conditions of the corrosion environment and at the raised temperatures are defined. The obtained results show that the developed steel in terms of characteristics (corrosion resistance, wear resistance in corrosion environments and at elevated temperatures) in conditions close to operating prevails over standard bearing steel. Predictive calculations for steel design and for the purpose of optimized slag composition for electro-slag remelting of steel under atmospheric and elevated nitrogen pressure were performed. The basics of the technology of smelting nitrogen-alloy steels at atmospheric (traditional metallurgical cycle (including for the manufacture of electrodes) and arc-slag remelting and high pressure have been developed. According to the results of calculations and experimental verification of electrical parameters of the process, the modes of arc and arc process using slags of optimized composition are determined. Variants of charges for melting and remelting of steel and results of calculations of carbon equivalent of new steel are calculated. An experimental batch of nitrogenous martensitic steel for bearings was made. Optimized modes of smelting, out-of-furnace processing and electroslag remelting for production of new nitrogenous martensitic steel (smelting and out-of-furnace processing for obtaining electrodes, arc-slag remelting, heat treatment) are offered. A draft technological instruction for the main stages of production of new nitrogen steel for heat-resistant and corrosion-resistant rolling mills has been developed.
