The object of research - the core-periphery relations in the region under administrative and financial decentralization. The purpose of the research is to develop methodological base for assessing the core-periphery relations in the region (at the levels: regional center - the territory of the region, cities of regional significance - areas of their influence, united territorial community center - territory of united territorial community ) and to develop the recommendations for their activization. The research was based on fundamental principles of modern economic theory, theories of public administration, local government, finance, social development, spatial development, the concept of the core-periphery model. The theoretical and empirical research methods were applied. Main results. The evolution of core-periphery studies and approaches to the definition of the core-periphery dichotomy have been systemized. The comparative characteristic of the core and periphery has been carried out, their peculiarities have been revealed. The necessity of the study of core-periphery relations in the region under administrative and financial decentralization in Ukraine has been substantiated. Three levels of interaction in the region under decentralization have been identified. The core-periphery relations at three level: regional center - the territory of the region, cities of regional significance - areas of their influence, united territorial community center - territory of united territorial community have been assessed based on authors methodology. The diagnostics of core-periphery relations at different levels in the region under decentralization on the example of Lviv, Poltava and Chernigiv regions have been carried out.
