The main characteristics of the wave function of a particle (its phase and pre-exponential factor) in this method are determined by the characteristics of the family of particle trajectories in the external field. At the same time, it is possible to describe the manifestations of a number of interference phenomena in the interaction of a particle with an external field. Based on this method, the scenario of the development of the channeling phenomenon after the particle enters the crystal is considered. The possibilities of applying the method of geometric optics to describe a number of other electromagnetic processes in the interaction of charged high-energy particles with matter are noted.
