The aim of the study is to analyze the peculiarities of unique terrestrial communities functioning and development within the gradient of ornithogenic impact influence in the two Antarctic regions: Central maritime Antarctic (Argentine islands archipelago, Antarctic Peninsula) and East Antarctica (Enderby Land). Methods of the study are chemical, microbiological, molecular-genetic, bioinformatical, statistical. Results. It has been shown that within the Argentine Islands there is a significant edifying effect and the introduction of Nitrogen and Phosphorus in large colonies of penguins, and in single nesting sites of non-colonial birds. Nitrogen and Phosphorus compounds are found in significantly higher concentrations in the locations of large penguin colonies. Microbial communities inhabiting soils from Is. Galindez, which are affected by non-colonial birds, had a lower content of unique operational taxonomic units compared to soil with less ornithogenic effect. There was relatively lower content of Acidobacteria and Verrucomicrobia and Solibacteres and Opitutae in the soil from Is. Galindez. In contrast, in soils from the island of Galindez, where the impact of birds is more noticeable, the proportion of Gammaproteobacteria and Cytophagia is higher. The number of cultured microorganisms associated with the root part of D. antarctica was 3×107 ± 2×106 and 3×107 ± 2×106 CFU/g of biomass in a medium with high to low nutrient content. 16 isolates associated with Antarctic D. antarctica plants were obtained.
