Kurdyumov of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine popup.description2  A set of theoretical studies are carried out to determine the optimal composition of heat-resistant and corrosion-resistant bearing steel alloyed with nitrogen and carbon. Experimental studies of the effect of cryogenic treatment on the properties of steel (phase composition, hardness, wear resistance) are made. The obtained results testify to the fundamental possibility of obtaining the optimal chemical composition of steel for heat-resistant corrosion-resistant bearings, alloyed with both carbon and nitrogen, in the laboratory during smelting in a nitrogen atmosphere at normal pressure. In addition, additional cryogenic treatment of this steel, along with a significant increase in corrosion resistance due to chromium doping, allows to achieve its hardness to the level of standard bearing steel ШX15. These results will be used in the next stage to develop technological parameters of smelting of this steel by electroslag remelting in conditions close to industrial.
