For the first time an attempt was made to scientifically analyze the process of formation of agricultural education in the Dnipro region; the domestic experience of training qualified specialists for the agricultural sector of the economy in specialized educational institutions of the region has been comprehensively studied; the preconditions and factors that contributed to and largely outlined the vectors of educational and scientific activities of agricultural educational institutions in the region are identified; the role and place of the Dnipro State Agrarian and Economic University as a leading center in the educational and scientific space of the region and Ukraine as a whole are clarified; the main stages and features of the formation of university education in the region are characterized (on the example of DSAEU); the basic scientific directions and schools on the basis of DSAEU, features of their formation and prospects of development in the conditions of the present are defined; new tendencies of development of university agrarian education in the conditions of European integration, new educational inquiries, social changes, etc. are defined. Scientific provisions on the training of knowledgeable people on the basis of the competence approach have been further developed; the importance of interdisciplinarity as a basis for producing a new innovative information product; the essence of university agricultural education as a historical and cultural phenomenon.
