The optimal parameters of ultrasonic impact hardening of tool and structural steels were determined using the experimental design based on roughness/waviness, 3D texture parameters, and surface hardness. The rational shot peening regimes were also established to obtain maximum values of the hardening depth and surface hardness of structural steel 30HGSA and steel C1045. Additionally, preliminary experiments of the laser heat treatment of the specimens of steel C1045, steel X153CrMoV12, and steel 30HGSA using a modern high-power robotic laser system at the University of West Bohemia to optimize the laser surface hardening parameters before performing the combined laser thermomechanical treatment of the studied materials.
