Kurdyumov of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine popup.description2  A set of calorimetric, structural, mechanical, corrosion studies of heat-resistant and corrosion-resistant bearing steel alloyed with nitrogen and carbon after various heat treatments was performed. Based on the data of differential scanning calorimetry, the optimal temperature ranges of heat treatment of this steel are determined, clarifications are made in the recommendations on the technology of smelting nitrogen martensitic steel for bearings. X-ray structural studies and determination of mechanical properties of steels after tribological studies at elevated temperatures were carried out in order to determine structural changes and microhardness under temperature. Corrosion studies are complemented by the study of the behaviour of the equilibrium potential of steels when heated in a corrosive environment and electrochemical corrosion at elevated temperatures. It is established that the corrosion behaviour of nitrogen-carbon steel is characterized by stability in comparison with the studied temperature range, in contrast to standard bearing steel and stainless steel. Variants of chemical compositions of nitrogen-carbon steels for use as a material for heat-resistant corrosion-resistant bearings are proposed.
