Improving the design of the arc enhanced glow discharge (AEGD) eliminated its overheating, improved the stability of combustion of the glow discharge during nitriding. Modernization of equipment for AEGD and optimization of processing modes in the glow discharge allowed to increase the ion current density on the substrate up to 10 times, which significantly increased the efficiency of ion nitriding and heating the massive part, and reduce processing time. The rate of destruction of samples of titanium alloys VT1-0, TC5, VT6, VT14, OT4 under the action of cavitation was determined. It was found that the increase in hardness and improvement of cavitation resistance for these alloys depends on the alloying elements, and also increases after heat treatment and ion-plasma modification of the sample surface. Due to the ion-plasma modification of the alloys, the resistance to cavitation wear increases several times, in particular the alloy VT6 3 times. The phase composition of the samples before and after the ion-plasma modification was studied and it was found that the resistance of the alloy to cavitation significantly depends on it.
