That makes it possible to obtain dense nanostructured composites. Microwave-consolidated composites TiN–Si3N4 have ~99% of theoretical density and fine-grained structure with grain size of 30 nm (Si3N4) and ~100 nm (TiN). The silicon nitride nanofibers additive leads to an increase in the characteristics of the obtained composites. Mechanical properties of sintered nanocomposites are: hardness - 20 GPа; fracture toughness 5,5 MPа·m1/2. Adding the Si3N4 nanofibers significantly increases the wear-resistance of the material and reduces the adhesion with the counter-sample. TiN–TiB2 coatings obtained on steel surface by electrospark deposition increase the hardness of substrate from 3-4 GPа to 11-14 GPa. The laser processing of electrospark coatings leads to significant increase in the surface wear-resistance at heavy friction conditions. The TiN–TiB2 laser processed coatings under the friction with hard alloy counter-sample reduce the linear wear of surface from 15 to 0,5 micron compared to initial substrate.
