An algorithm for using the cartographic method in the formation of maps (schemes) of song and choreographic folklore material is offered. The main folk genres of Central Ukraine (in particular, the Middle Dnieper) are determined on the example of musical and choreographic heritage. Theoretical positions have been improved; they reveal the main characteristics of the style of performing folk songs of the Middle Dnieper region. The scientific work of ethnographers who worked in Central Ukraine is studied in the scientific paper. The role of organizers of professionalization of amateur choral and choreographic art in the cultural development of Ukraine is determined. The stylistic features of the first Ukrainian-language liturgy ("Liturgy of St. John Chrysostom"), built on the cants and psalms collected in the Cherkasy region, are analyzed. The influence of music education, in particular spiritual, on the process of forming the specifics of folk performance. Elaboration of materials of folklore expeditions allowed to systematize primary sources of folklore heritage. A linguistic and graphic description of artistically interpreted choreographic compositions created on the basis of folklore material is done. The conceptual bases of formation of the state policy of preservation of folklore heritage are characterized.
