The first stage of work is devoted to determining the influence of the composition of the gaseous medium and the modes of chemical heat treatment on the mechanical properties and acoustic parameters of samples of fuel pipes made of Zr1% Nb alloy. A promising method of purposeful formation of the phase-structural state of the surface layer of the metal is chemical heat treatment (CHT), in particular, the method of controlled thermal diffusion saturation of oxygen and nitrogen surface layers. Under different regimes in the oxygen and nitrogen environment, the processes ofС HT ring samples cut from the fuel pipes of the zirconium alloy Zr1% Nb were carried out. After СHT, the ring alloy samples were tested for tensile strength. It is shown that СHT does not change the deformation curves, tensile strength, conditional yield strength and the amount of deformation before failure compared with the mechanical characteristics of the samples tested in the state of supply. It is established that all the modes of СHT, which we used in the work, lead to the strengthening of the surface layers of the shell material of the fuel rod, without reducing its plasticity. Comparative analysis of acoustic emission parameters during deformation of samples from fuel pipes in the state of delivery and after СHT in different environments and under different modes showed that AE parameters were more sensitive toС HT process and depend on environment, temperature and duration of СHT.
