The am of the work is to identify main trends in foreign language communication teaching from the point of view of innovatve and tradtonal approaches in the process of teaching forein language for the students of Humanities (law, history, politology, social work and sociology, journalism, design, art, philology, international information etc). To achieve this aim, to check the hypothesis and solve the tasks of the research we used complex methodology, including system of pedagogical research methods: theoretical methods – analyses of linguistic, methodological and scientific literature on the problem, method of theoretical modelling; empirical methods – pedagogical experiment, testing, questionnaires, surveys, conversations with teachers and students, observation, attendance and analysis of classes, analysis and generalization of pedagogical experience. The scientific novelty of the research is in clarification and deepening of the idea of the essence of the notions «foreign language communication», «translation studies», «linguistics», «stylistics», «academic writing», «tradtional FL communication approaches»; theoretical subsantiation, development, practical approbation and improvement of innovative approaches to teaching foreign language communication, development of new forms of work with vocabulary and grammar material in the course of FL teaching. The results of the research and its conclusions can be implemented into educational in foreign language teaching in order to improve the students language proficiency level, to compile programs, lections and practical classes, testing.
