The aim of the work is to reveal the relationship between the live weight of pullets at the beginning of photostimulation and the characteristics of egg production. It was found that the distribution of pullets into groups depending on their live weight before the onset of photostimulation contributed to an increase in the uniformity of this indicator within certain groups by 16.8-24.1%. Further keeping chickens in equilibrium fractions made it possible to improve the productive performance of chickens relative to control - from layers of experimental groups for 50 weeks of life, an average of 4% more eggs were obtained with lower feed costs per 10 eggs by 3.7%. Based on the research results, an experimental method of poultry selection was developed by forming equilibrium groups in terms of live weight before the start of egg-laying and thereby increasing the uniformity of this indicator within the groups. The use of this method and the further maintenance of poultry in equilibrium groups makes it possible to improve the productivity of the entire flock, and, consequently, the profitability of the enterprise, which is confirmed by the higher profit from one layer from the equilibrium groups by 43.8% (1.4 times) in comparison with the unaligned one by live weight to the group.
