Subject: a set of theoretical, methodological and practical aspects, statistical data on production efficiency in the creation of new varieties of potatoes in Ukrainian farms. Research methods: The methodological basis of research to assess the value of new varieties of potatoes and the efficiency of their production are theoretical developments of domestic and foreign scientists. There are several methodological approaches to assessing effectiveness: 1) The traditional approach. Based on the classic Dupont model "Return on capital", estimates performance based on two groups of indicators: generalizing - indicators of the first level, which characterize the efficiency of the enterprise as a whole, comparing performance with the cost of all resources, and second-level indicators that assess efficiency certain types of enterprise resources. 2) Multifactor approach. Offered in the scientific economic literature, but rarely used in practice. It involves the use of aggregate performance indices, which are complex and difficult to interpret, and therefore have not become generally accepted. A number of methods will be used in the research process, the most important of which are theoretical generalization, comparison and analysis. Research results: The results of the research will develop methodological approaches to estimating the value of potato seeds as an object of intellectual property, as well as economic mechanisms to ensure the acquisition of rights and use of intellectual property for newly created varieties of potatoes.
