In turn, peas are an excellent precursor for most crops. The yield of winter wheat after it is the same as after black steam, in some cases even higher. To prevent the spread of disease, it is not advisable to sow legumes in the same field more than once every four years. Tillage for peas mainly depends on the predecessor, soil type, weather conditions, growing area. In the areas for peas, located after stubble predecessors (winter wheat), in the presence of annual weeds, disking is carried out to a depth of 6-8 cm and ordinary fallow plowing to 22-25 cm, on degraded chernozems - 25- 27 cm, sod-podzolic soils - to the depth of the arable layer. Peas have a relatively short growing season, poorly developed root system, so the need for nutrients is great. Thus, per 100 kg of grain it produces 4.5-6.0 kg of nitrogen, 1.6-2.0 kg of phosphorus, 2.0-3.0 kg of potassium, 2.5-3.0 kg of calcium, 0, 8–1.3 kg of magnesium and microelements (molybdenum, boron, etc.). Since peas are a nitrogen-fixing crop, and nitrogen is largely provided by symbiosis with nodule bacteria, its crops are fertilized mainly with phosphorus and potassium fertilizers, which promote better development of the root system, increase the activity of nodule bacteria. The best way to sow peas is the usual one with a distance between rows of 15 cm, and in the area of sufficient moisture, you can use a narrow-row method of sowing. Pea beans ripen unevenly - first lower, then in the upper tiers. Harvest time is determined, taking into account the state of ripening (yellowing) of 60-75% of the lower and middle beans on the plants in which the largest, selected seeds are formed.
