It was shown that the vegetation of the Dnister River’s valley had changed during the middle and late Neopleistocene according to the general climatic trends and under the local environmental conditions. The spatiotemporal heterogeneity of fish assemblages in the late Cenozoic of the south of Eastern Europe was revealed. Representatives of 11 genera of amphibians were revealed to occur in the territory of Ukraine and adjacent countries during the Miocene. A new amphibian species was described — Paleoproteus miocenicus. Based on the study of bird remains, paleoecological reconstruction of terrestrial ecosystems of the late Cenozoic was carried out. The occurrence of three subspecies of quaternary lions (Panthera spelaea fossilis, P. s. intermedia, and P. s. spelaea) in the territory of Ukraine was shown and the occurrence of P. leo persica during the Holocene was confirmed. Remains of the black-tailed gazelle were first found in layers of the Atlantic period of Crimea. The obtained results can be used to resolve issues of morphology, systematics, and evolution of various vertebrate groups of the late Cenozoic of Ukraine, as well as of biostratigraphy and correlation of continental deposits of Eurasia.
