The shape of the supercavity, which is formed under the strong influence of the free surface, was investigated. Then it will be possible to design the shape of the penetrating body, taking into account the possible place of contact with the liquid and limit the area of hull washing. Controllability and maneuverability of supercavitating vehicles (SCV) were studied using computer simulation and results of specially conducted experiments. A method for finding equilibrium values of motion parameters for SCV with horizontal fins without gliding in the cavity and for the mixed mode is developed. Methods for calculating stationary and non-stationary SCV motion with conical cavitators have been developed, examples of computer simulation are given. The efficiency of such cavitators as operating controls is considered. Algorithms for automatic control of SCV motion along assigned trajectories using both rotating cavitators and horizontal and vertical fins have been developed. Estimates of the efficiency of steady motion are given using drag coefficients, ratios of drag to weight and power to weight. The comparison of unseparated, standard and supercavitating hulls; devices with neutral buoyancy and completely laminar is performed. The results of experimental and numerical studies of the flow around special unseparated bodies of revolution are presented. Theoretical studies of the flow around bodies submerged beneath the free surface are presented. Based on the complete solution of the nonlinear problem, the flow around the submerged circular cylinder has been studied, and coefficients of drag and lifting forces for different Froude numbers are calculated. The problem formulation is extended to a body with a sharp trailing edge. The ranges of Froude numbers for which the solution may not exist have been determined.
