The purpose of the work is to develop scientific and practical approaches to environmental assessment and forecasting of the ecological condition of the territories in the zone of potential flooding on the basis of the use of space monitoring technologies and geographic information systems. Research methods - mathematical modeling, field (expeditionary) research, statistical analysis, thematic decoding and interpretation of remote sensing data, geoinformation monitoring and forecasting. As a result of this work, scientific and practical approaches were developed to conduct environmental and forecast the status of areas in the area of ​​potential flooding, including the example of the Carpathian region of Ukraine and surrounding areas. To this end, the use of current research methods has been analyzed and scientifically substantiated, among which the use of remote sensing technologies from space and geographic information systems plays a particularly important role.
