The purpose of the work is to reveal the features of financial decentralization in Ukraine and address issues for further successful implementation of the reform. The object of the study is the financial resources of local governments. The subject of the study is a set of theoretical and practical principles of strengthening the financial capacity of local communities in the context of financial decentralization. Research methods. The following general scientific and applied methods (historical, mathematical statistics, systems comparison, structural and functional approaches to data analysis) were used in the qualification work. The main scientific result of the study is the study of theoretical foundations and development of practical recommendations for the successful implementation of administrative-territorial reform and sustainable development of local government reform in Ukraine. It is proved that the reform of local self-government has given impetus to the full development of territorial communities, the opportunity to improve life in each locality and in the country as a whole. Due to financial decentralization, the resource base of local budgets has changed significantly (positive trends in the growth of local budget revenues). The use of research results by local governments will contribute to the socio-economic development of local communities, will conduct a science-based policy in the field of local government in terms of financial decentralization and increase motivation to participate in these processes.
