The purpose of the research is to study the medical and social aspects of the perception of radiation and environmental risks, their impact on lifestyle formation and substantiation of recommendations on risk adaptability and community readiness for emergencies in the NPP. Research methods: sociological, psychodiagnostic, bibliographic, semantic analysis of the press, media content analysis, statistical and mathematical. A feature of the region where the SUNPP is built is the access to the surface of dense crystalline rocks, placement in the tornado zone "A". The social determinants of risk for the population of Yuzhnoukrainsk are health care, employment and democratic governance; for the rest of the population of the - welfare, living conditions, employment. Environmental determinants of risks are: road transport, emissions from the chemical industry, non-radiation component of nuclear power plants. The radiation determinant is the storage and disposal of radioactive waste. There are reliable links between the socio-psychological state of the population and the main areas of quality of life, assessments of environmental and radiation factors. Different levels of preparedness of state institutions to respond to emergencies and low material and technical level of provision of central and medical services have been established. Peculiarities of managers' interaction in everyday life are determined. The relationship between the core values and the state of concern about the risk of emergencies (for urban - social, and for rural - man-made). It has been established that the local authorities of the NPP do not perform the function of informing the population on radiation safety issues. The information field that shapes public opinion does not meet the demands of the population. Areas of use: radiation medicine, nuclear energy, civil protection, sociology.
