P. Semenenko Institute of geochemistry, mineralogy and ore formation popup.description2 The Korsun-Novomyrhorod pluton is represented by a typical association of igneous rocks of Proterozoic anorthositic complexes. The formation of pluton occurred as a result of the repeated arising and crystallization of melts of different compositions, from basic to acidic. Differentiation of the basic melts led to the appearance of the gabbro-anorthosite-monzonite association. Acidic magmas, not genetically related to the basic melts, were the initial for rapakivi massifs. The geochemical and petrological features of rocks are due to the abyssal conditions of their crystallization. The absence of volcanic and dyke analogues of the basic rocks, high iron content in femic minerals, and the absence of primary magnetite could indicate the deep conditions of formation. So, petrological and mineralogical features might be explained by crystallization in reducing conditions. Taking into account the large area occupied by plutonic rocks, it is likely that there are blocks with different levels of erosion cutting. The obtained data indicates the possibility of vertical layering of gabbro-anorthosite massifs. In contrast to the previous explanations, that proposed the formation of medium rocks as a result of the melting of acid rocks by basic intrusions or mixing of basic and acid melts, some petrochemical features and geological positions can be satisfactorily explained by crystallization from residual melt. According to recent isotope and geochemical data, the initial melts can be of both mantle and mixed mantle-crustal origin. The composition of major plutonic rocks is more consistent with their formation as a result of high-Al toleiitic melt differentiation. The geochemical features of rapakivi are consistent with their origin by partial melting of partly depleted continental crust in dry conditions. The area of KNP is promising for prospecting of high-quality ilmenite ores of the Nosachiv type, as well as ore occurrences of rare metals (REE, Y, Zr).
