The aim of the work is the developing recommendations for the creation of newest methods for obtaining ultrapure metals with high yield of ultrapure product, producing single crystals of high-purity low-melting metals by directed crystallization, and refining zirconium by zone melting in an electric field and studying the properties of high-purity metals. Research methods - calculation methods used to calculate the release of impurity elements in metal refining processes taking into account the separation coefficients and refining parameters, estimation of ultimate purity of metals and experimental methods for obtaining ultrapure metals and studying their chemical composition and properties. The recommendations for optimizing the refining of metals by distillation and crystallization methods and evaluation of their ultimate purity are formulated. New devices for producing single crystals of low-melting metals (Cd, Zn, Te, etc.) by the Bridgman method have been developed and patented. High-pure single crystals of Cd and Zn were produced and their structural characteristics were investigated. The efficiency of zirconium refining by the method of zone melting in an electric field from interstitial and substitutional impurities has been studied.
