The purpose of the work is to conduct research to develop methodological principles for cyber security of the United Energy System of Ukraine in the implementation of the concept of smart grids. The research was performed on the basis of the application of approaches adopted in international regulations and standards known from the theory of information security, the theory of information risk management. Methodological recommendations for ensuring the cyber security of the United Energy System of Ukraine in the framework of the implementation of the concept of smart grids have been developed. The results of the research have been implemented in the National Energy Company "Ukrenergo" and the State Service for Special Communications and Information Protection of Ukraine.
