Based on the concept of an effective module for determination the elastic properties of a composite material, a three-dimensional finite element model of a rod made of unidirectional carbon fiber with local surface damage in the form of a rectangular notch was developed. Its reliability is confirmed by comparing the results of determining the frequency of the main mode of bending vibrations of the intact rod varying the anisotropy of the elastic properties of the composite material with known experimental data.
