Objective: To determine the rasospecific resistance of the source material of millet on an artificial infectious background and to create adapted to adverse environmental conditions due to climate change high-yielding varieties of millet with a short growing season (75-85 days), complex resistance to smut and melanosis in combination with other economically valuable features of culture to increase grain production and improve its nutritional and feed qualities. Research methods: field, laboratory, statistical. The main results of the study: According to the 2021 phase, convergent and saturating crosses were performed, resulting in 17 combinations of F1 hybrids to create a new source material. In the selection nursery, early and medium-ripe millet lines were selected according to the parameters of grain coarseness and resistance to lodging. In the competitive and preliminary variety tests, 12 early and medium-ripe lines were identified, which exceeded the standard in terms of the set of search characteristics (yield, technological qualities of grain, resistance to lodging and melanosis and smut). As a result of tests for rasospecific resistance of millet against smut on an infectious background with artificial infection with 8 smudges of smut, new sources of group resistance against the pathogen have been identified: five lines resistant to I, II and III groups of smut races.
