The search for 2β-decay of the 106Cd nucleus was performed at a new level of sensitivity to the half-life of 1e21 - 1e22 years; a new limit on the half-life of the 106Cd nucleus in respect to the two-neutrino mode of electron capture with positron emission was set. The detector system with scintillation detectors 106CdWO4 and CdWO4 was improved by replacing low-background photomultipliers to ultra-low-background ones, and an acquisition of data with the improved system has been started.
