In addition to the previously determined residual welding stresses, the operational and total stresses in the area of the welded joints were obtained. The estimated estimation of the influence of residual stresses on the efficiency of the considered welded joints with crack - like defects of material inconsistency under operational load is carried out. The critical condition of cracks of different sizes and locations was determined on the basis of a two-criteria approach to brittle-viscous fracture. The results of the calculated evaluation showed that the residual welding stresses have a significant effect on the resistance to fracture of crack-like defects. According to the results of the calculations, the composite welds under consideration were moderately loaded under normal operating conditions, so their resistance to brittle failure is quite high.
