Kavetsky Institute of Experimental Pathology, Oncology and Radiobiology National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine popup.description2 The comprehensive study of primary endometrial cancer (EC) patients' blood revealed an increase in lipid peroxidation (LPO) in terms of the malondialdehyde (MDA) content with a simultaneous decrease in the sulfhydryl (-SH) groups content and an increase in interindividual variability in the values of the pro-antioxidant ratio (PAR) in comparison with the control group. In peripheral blood lymphocytes (PBL), the free radical compounds level was reduced and the mitochondrial transmembrane potential was increased, the proportion of cells in apoptosis state and the spontaneous level of double-stranded DNA breaks and chromosome aberrations were mainly due to chromatid type. Test irradiation of blood samples from EC patients in the dose range 0.5-3.0 Gy led to a dose-dependent increase in LPO intensity, number of SH-groups, double-strand DNA breaks, and decrease in PBL apoptotic death level. Patients' brachytherapy led to a decrease in the content of SH-groups, an increase of MDA and PAR content in the blood plasma, and the double-strands DNA breaks and apoptosis level increased significantly in PBL. The use of MF ex vivo increased the catalase activity in the EC patients' blood which indicates its potential radioprotective effect. The developed methodology for early complications prognosis brachytherapy in EC patients is described in the developed guidelines, according to which the predictors of radiosensitivity of non-malignant cells entering the therapeutic irradiation zone include: the level of lipid peroxidation in the blood plasma, the overall frequency of chromosomes aberrations and radiation markers (dicentrics), the double-stranded DNA breaks level, which should be determined before treatment in order to identify the patients with a high risk of complications. The obtained scientific results were implemented into the personified prevention concept of radiation complications development in gynecological oncology patients.
