Significant climate change due to growing anthropogenic impacts has led to threats to the sustainable development of society, so there is a need to assess the negative impact of these changes on the environment and society. This will minimize the negative consequences of such changes and use the positive consequences for the sustainable development of society and nature. The work is aimed at obtaining updated estimates of socio-environmental impacts caused by climate change, in particular, to clarify the impacts associated with changes in the carbon cycle in wetlands, indicators of their absorption and carbon emissions. The work is based on the use of a set of analytical methods, data from satellite observations and field ground measurements of the studied parameters, which will significantly improve the available estimates. This will optimize land use strategies in environmentally sensitive areas, in particular, improve wetland management and protection, improve national greenhouse gas emissions reports, and thus improve adaptation to climate change and minimize losses from adverse events and processes.
