The composition of the obtained crystals, optical, luminescent, scintillation characteristics were studied. A comparative analysis of the luminescent and scintillation characteristics of crystals obtained under this topic and other known scintillators. The energies of formation of internal and carbon-related point and complex defects in YAG are estimated using ab-initio calculations. C-containing defects in annealed crystals compete with their own defects in the crystal lattice, contribute to the elimination of color centers and improve the transport of charge carriers to luminescent centers.
