Results: protection of children's rights of different categories are analyzed; the main characteristics of different categories of children in the justice system, peculiarities of proceedings in civil cases involving children, proceedings in cases of administrative offenses involving children, criminal proceedings involving children (pre-trial and court proceedings) were studied, children's access to justice (mechanisms for ensuring children's right to free secondary legal aid and ensuring the rights and best interests of convicted children, including those who are subjects in the probation system, as well as children released from prison); the main subjects of ensuring the rights and best interests of children in the justice system and peculiarities of their interaction, peculiarities of training of specialists in the field of justice for children were studied, international experience and standards for the protection of children's rights in the justice system, the possibility of introducing in Ukraine the practice of social and psychological support in the process of justice of children who have suffered from violence or witnessed it (the Barnahus model) and the state and prospects of reforming the juvenile justice system in Ukraine; proposals on optimal mechanisms for ensuring the protection of the rights and interests of each child in the conditions of decentralization in Ukraine have been developed.
