Karazin Kharkiv National University popup.description2  The main problem of the project was to create a new class of analytical reagents aimed at determining metal ions – "smart" fluorescent ligands that can change the complexation center depending on the electronic structure and geometric parameters of the metal ion and, accordingly, to form fluorescent complexes structures with excellent spectral properties. Molecular design of promising compounds to create "smart" ligands was performed. We have used as quantum-chemical modeling of the interaction of the cation metal-"smart ligand", as experimental investigations of spectral properties and stability of complexes with some of the obtained new ligands. Synthetic approaches have been developed to obtain fluorophores, the molecules of which have two non-equivalent or one flexible complexation center. About 30 new promising "smart" ligands have been synthesized, including flavonoids with rigid centers of complexation; benzimidazolyl and benzothiazolyl derivatives of pyrazoline, oxazole and thiazole-containing ketones and pyrazolines with flexible centers of complexation, as well as their intermediates. The structures of the obtained ligands were studied by physico-chemical methods. Successful attemps of adaptation of the flavonoid-based ligands to the analytical environment namely synthesis of water-soluble ligands by their chemical modification and obtaining composite polymer films containing ligands as dopants were performed. For the first time, a study of the complexation of 7-hydroxyflavone derivatives with alkaline earth metal ions (Mg2+, Sr2+, Ba2+), as well as benzimidazole and benzothiazole pyrazoline derivatives with Cd2+ and Hg2+ ions was made. The investigations have shown that the obtained "smart" ligands allow to determine these heavy metals in concentrations down to 10-7 mol/l. This allows the development of new highly sensitive methods of heavy metal analysis for environmental screening. Product Description popup.authors Glsdkov Yuvgen S.
