Purpose of work: to analyze modern world experience in limiting radon exposure and determine priority ways of action in the context of Euratom's requirements for Ukraine. Methods: bibliosemantic, analytical. Results: An analysis of world experience and international regulations in the field of radiation protection shows that the introduction of the National Radon Action Plan will reduce the overall level of radon exposure in homes by providing an effective system of protective measures. Requirements for strategies for monitoring radon levels in buildings and identification of radon-hazardous areas have been established. The priority tasks of the radon action plan and communication strategies for its implementation are scientifically substantiated. The analysis of the results of about 30 thousand preliminary measurements of radon concentration in the air of houses in different regions of Ukraine and found that the geometric mean value of radon OA in the country is 120 Bq / m3 and varies from 35 to 265 Bq / m3 at the level of individual regions, the current standard (250 Bq / m3) is exceeded in 21% of cases, and the IAEA recommended reference level (300 Bq / m3) is exceeded in 16% of cases. There is no information on radon concentrations in the air of houses in more than a third of the country. The collective dose of radon in housing, which for the entire population of Ukraine is 92.6 man-kSv / year, and for the critical group (rural population) - 28.6 man-kSv / year, the estimated probable risk of death from radon cancer lung was almost 8,900 cases per year. Based on the results of the research, the following documents were developed: "Questionary. Perception of radiation risks by the population of Ukraine, including risks from radon in the air of houses"; "Procedure and methodology of radon measurements in buildings".
