The purpose of the research is to formulate conceptual bases of creation, development and functioning of bodies in Ukraine on the basis of studying archival materials, domestic and foreign historical and legal literature, legislative acts and other normative legal documents of the Russian Empire, USSR-USSR and independent Ukraine. police (militia) from the end of the XVIII century. until 2020. The main directions and tasks of scientific research are: research of the main stages of formation and development of the police (militia) in the lands of Ukraine, its place and role in the mechanism of state power; disclosure of historical and legal aspects of the formation of forensic thought in Ukraine (mid-nineteenth century - early twentieth century); research of legal regulation, basic forms and methods of search activity of detective police and criminal investigation bodies; clarification of the legal regulation of the activity of the police (militia) in relation to the inquiry, interaction with judicial-prosecutorial bodies and offices (institutes) of scientific-judicial examination; study of the interaction of the general police (militia) with other law enforcement agencies in the fight against professional crime; generalization of historical and legal experience of legal regulation of the organization and activity of the police (militia) in Ukraine in a certain period.
