The aim of the research is to develop fundamental ideas about the course of processes on the phase distribution surface and in the solutions volume, taking into account the chemical, physical and biological aspects of interactions in the aquatic environment to prevent technogenic pollution of water resources. Research methods – adsorption, photochemical, membrane methods; biotesting; ecological and hygienic assessment of water quality. Theoretical substantiation is given of separate, compatible and compatible-parallel course of photochemical catalysis, membrane separation, sorption, biosorption and biochemical oxidation of pollutants on the phase distribution surface and in water is investigated; new synthetic sorbents for extraction of radionuclides from water, new boron-selective sorbents, activated carbon (AC) for purification of natural and wastewater and microfiltration tubular membranes are substantiated and obtained. A new method of drinking water quality control by complex biotesting is proposed. For the first time, the fundamental possibility of sterilization of E. Coli by CO2 at low pressure was shown. The presence of organic and inorganic toxicants in natural water was monitored. A ecological assessment of the quality of water bodies of Ukraine has been performed. A statistical analysis of the dependence of the quality of surface sources on natural factors has been carried out. Biotechnology for wastewater treatment against hexamethylenediamine has been developed and implemented. Quantitative assessment of the contribution of physical adsorption and biodegradation of sorbed organic substances into the overall efficiency of the compatible process of biosorption on AC is given. The possibility of using highly concentrated industrial wastewater to produce coal-water fuel is substantiated.
