Kavetsky Institute of Experimental Pathology, Oncology and Radiobiology National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine popup.description2 Immunohistochemical study of the expression features of bone remodeling proteins showed significant variability of their parameters in the tumor tissue of patients with PCa. The expression level of osteopontin (OPN) in PCa cells was 213.5 ± 10.6 H-Score points, osteonectin (ON) - 227.3 ± 13.2 H-Score points and BMP-7 - 183.2 ± 9.7 H-Score respectively. It was found that the level of OPN expression in tumor tissue was directly correlated with the size of tumors (r = 0.47, p <0.05), the presence of metastases in regional lymph nodes (r = 0.52, p <0.05), Gleason gradation (r = 0.78, p <0.05) and preoperative PSA level in the serum of patients (r = 0.68, p <0.05). High levels of expression of this protein have been shown to be associated with a high risk of PCa progression by D’Amico et al. (1998). The level of ON in PCa cells directly correlated with the presence of metastatic lesions of regional lymph nodes and the sum of Gleason scores (r = 0.48 and r = 0.55, respectively) (p <0, 05). In patients with a low risk of PCa progression, the level of ON expression in tumor tissue was 1.43 times (p <0.05) lower compared with patients at high risk of tumor progression. It was found that the level of OPN expression in BC cells was 176.2 ± 12.3 H-Score points, ON - 184.5 ± 9.6 H-Score points Score, and BMP-7 - 156.4 ± 12.3 H-Score points in accordance. Analysis of the relationship between OPN and ON expression levels in tumor tissue of patients with breast cancer and the main clinical and pathological characteristics of patients revealed the existence of correlations with the presence of metastases in regional lymph nodes (r = 0.63; r = 0.45, p <0, 05, respectively), the degree of differentiation (r = -0.55; r = 0.58 p <0.05, respectively) and the molecular subtype of tumors (r = 0.49: r = 0.65, p <0.05, respectively). No association was found between BMP-7 expression levels and the main clinical and pathological characteristics of patients with PCa and BC. Product Description popup.authors Borikun Tetiana V.
