The fundamental problem of divergence of the level density in the low-energy region of nuclear spectra has been solved. The results can be used for nuclear data evaluation in various fields of statistical physics. The process of collision of atomic nuclei in hot fusion reactions has been studied. It is shown that the relatively heavy and deformed in ground state target nucleus weakly changes its deformation and orientation in space during the evolution of the system until the transition through the Coulomb barrier.
