The physical features of the distribution of pollutants in the environment from the ash and slag dump have been studied. An overview, generalization, systematization of existing mathematical and software tools used to assess the environmental impact of man-made objects is done. New mathematical tools for modeling air pollution due to dust formation on ash and slag dumps have been developed, which, unlike existing ones, take into account particle parameters, spatial and man-made surface features, meteorological factors, dust suppression intensities and wind erosion. This allows with high accuracy to assess and predict the impact of ash slag enterprises of the fuel and energy sector on the state of air and the population of the surrounding areas. On the basis of the mathematical apparatus the specialized software-modeling complex is developed that allows: to carry out the analysis of data of monitoring of atmospheric air in the territory of an arrangement of ash-slag dumps; determine the distribution of the concentration of pollutants in space and time in the air when sawing this man-made object; to analyze and assess the risks to the health of staff and the public; address the tasks of preventive forecasting and generate recommendations to support effective management decisions to respond quickly to such emergencies and minimize their consequences. Testing of the developed mathematical and software tools was carried out on the example of modeling the impact of the ash dump of Darnytsya CHP on air pollution and the population of the surrounding areas.
