S. Berezhnoy" popup.description2  Research object is low-cement alumina-chromia (LCACr) castable. Work purpose is technology reprocessing of the LCACr castable. Research methods are chemical, physical-mechanical, petrographic ones. An addition amount influence of active alumina of two grades on structure formation process in the coarse-grained LCACr castable, depending on holding time, and on main properties of unburn and fired at 1580 ºС vibrocasting castable samples, was studied. The optimal amount of studied addition was established, which provides the greatest flowability during vibration of freshly prepared castable at the established minimum values of its moisture content and the highest apparent density of castable samples. By studies of the strength kinetics of structure formed in the LCACr castable shown that, the studied alumina equally affects the structure formation process in these castables. The structure formation mechanism that occurs in the studied castable after 30, 60, 90 minutes of holding was established. The main properties of unburn and fired at 1580 ºС vibrocasting castable samples were determined. The expediency of introducing active alumina into the castable composition was shown, which ensures the achievement of high properties of castable samples that meet the requirements of technical specifications (TS). The study’s results were used to improve the technology of vibrocasting unburn castable samples from the LCACr castable containing the investigated active alumina addition, intended for service in the working layer of carbon black production reactors lining. Pilot batches of low-cement alumina with addition of Cr2O3 castable with properties that meet the requirements of TS were made, which were supplied to consumer on domestic market. The work should be continued in the direction of mastering the improved technology of LCACr castable with active alumina addition and further improvement of the LCACr castable technology, expanding the volume of its production and use.
