Kavetsky Institute of Experimental Pathology, Oncology and Radiobiology National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine popup.description2 The baseline criteria for verifying chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL)/non-Hodgkin small lymphocytic lymphoma (SLL) should include the presence of ≥5х109/l monomorphic small-sizes mature B cells (CD5+CD23+) in peripheral blood and bone marrow. The diagnosis of monoclonal B-cell lymphocytosis (MBL) is highly important since MBL precedes practically all cases of CLL/SLL. For the first time, MBL with high (<0.5х109/l) and low (≥0.5х109/l) B cell count is defined. The algorithm for the differential diagnosis of classic hairy cell leukemia (HCL) and HCL-variant has been elaborated based on morphocytochemical features and immunophenotype profile of the substrate cells. For the first time the group of patients with the suspected lymphoproliferative disease has been delineated where the moderate polyclonal lymphocytosis in the peripheral blood is accompanied with T cell lymphocytosis in bone marrow. These cases were associated with recent coronavirus infection (Covіd-19) in these patients. Therefore, the collection and analysis of clinical-and-hematological data and the study of these patients should be continued taking into account higher risk of lymphoproliferative diseases in immunologically compromised persons.
