Registration Date 11-02-2022 Organization Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv popup.description2 Objects of research: causes, methods of transmission and spread of viruses of strategically important plant crops. Purpose: to establish the spectrum and spread of dangerous viruses, to study the range of hosts and mechanisms of virus transmission, screening of crop varieties for resistance to them. Research methods: virological, monitoring, serological, molecular biological, microbiological and statistical research methods. The list was compiled, the distribution was studied, the range of hosts and mechanisms of transmission of harmful viruses of commercially important crops were established. Screening of varieties of individual crops for resistance to relevant viruses was performed. Wheat dwarf virus was detected on wheat with symptoms of dwarfism, yellowing of leaves and non-sprouting, and wheat stripe mosaic virus was detected on symptoms of striped mosaic on leaves. The distribution of these viruses in the season 2020-2021 has been studied. For the first time in Ukraine, sugarcane mosaic virus (SCMV) was detected in corn plants. The combination of two modes of transmission plays a role in the spread of SCMV in agrocenoses of Ukraine: seed and vector, aphids Rhopalosiphum padi. It was found that 50% of wheat samples and 10% of corn samples with typical viral symptoms were affected by HPWMoV. This is the first case of HPWMoV detection in Europe. Raspberry leaf blotch virus (RLBV) was detected for the first time in Ukraine on raspberries. Viral diseases of garlic are widespread in Ukraine. The presence of viruses of the genera Potyvirus, Allexivirus and Carlavirus in garlic from different regions of Ukraine, which can cause a significant decrease in different cultures of the genus Allium, has been experimentally confirmed. The presence of yellow mosaic mosaic virus and cucumber mosaic virus in private gladiolus collections in many regions of Ukraine was established, and the fact of BYMV + CMV gladiolus co-infection was confirmed.
