A review of studies of aerosols in the Antarctic atmosphere: their composition, their regional and seasonal characteristics, nucleation regimes, the impact on their formation of biogenic organic precursors has performed. Peculiarities of Antarctic snow and ice chemistry have considered, in particular, changes in ice composition in the Last Ice Maximum. The dependences have founded for the composition and number of ions on the height of sampling sites, distance from the coast, terrain and season. Data collected on the aerosol precursor concentrations in the Antarctic atmosphere. Electrical conductivity, pH, redox potential, total concentration of aerosol ions, sodium, chloride, sulfate, phosphate and ammonium ions in the snow cover of pits on the Antarctic Peninsula were determined. The concentrations of ions in the snowpack have been calculated and estimated in the air over the islands of the Argentine archipelago and the Antarctic Peninsula, which is necessary to assess the direct aerosol impact on the climate in this region. A review and summary of international experience has performed in the study of marine suspended solids in Antarctica. The main applied aspects were the study of the distribution of organic matter in the marine sediment in the context of global climate change, the course of the carbon cycle, the dynamics and patterns of transport of particles suspended in water, which determine their qualitative and quantitative characteristics.
