The methodological basis of the research is definedby various methods of scientific research: comparison, systematization and generalization; dynamic, economic-statistical and comparative analysis. The scientific novelty of the results of scientific research is as follows: improved the content of the category of tourist and recreational potential and proposed its structure; the methodical approach to diagnostics of tourist and recreational potential of the region is substantiated; the model of strategic management of activity of tourist enterprises is formed, the complex mechanism of strategic management of competitiveness of tourist region is developed. The practical significance of the research. The obtained scientific results are the initial theoretical and methodological basis for substantiating the concept of strategic management of tourism development in Ukraine at different hierarchical levels: macro, meso and micro levels. The results of research have been implemented in the educational process of the Department of Management, Faculty of Economics and Law, Mariupol State University. The proposals presented in the research have found practical application in the activities of tourism enterprises.
