Ferroresonance phenomena can occur during the occurrence of arc arresters, for which a significant increase in the phase voltages of the network is special, which can cause a breakdown of the insulation of the electrical network equipment. During this phenomenon, voltage transformers usually fail first and cables can be damaged. In addition, it has been established that the ESPEF mode is extremely dangerous for the isolation of the entire electrically connected network due to the presence of overvoltages with steep wave fronts observed in ESPEF. Such overvoltages cause accelerated degradation of insulation. This is the greatest danger of the SPEF regime. It is proved that in order to reduce the damage to the insulation of electrical equipment, it is necessary to turn off the damaged element with the minimum possible time delay. To reduce power outages, automatic reconnection (ARC) has been developed for connections that have been switched off by protection against SPEF.
