It has been illustrated that with the widespread implementation of renewable sources of power energy, the problem of power systems stability is becoming more vital. The analysis of the static stability of the power system can be mainly conducted by checking only the aperiodic stability. However, it is required to conduct the analysis of the transient stability in case the new or reconstructed existing electrical power units are activated. In this paper, the methods of static stability analysis are described. Particularly, the modal method, one of the most up-to-date methods of static stability analysis, is discussed. The analysis of the static stability of Ukraine’s united power system after the affiliation of the Radekhiv solar power plant with the capacity of 8,0 megawatts has been conducted. In addition, there has been studied the static stability after the excitation system replacement of the electrical power unit № 10 in Burshtyn power plant with the UNITROL 6800 (ABB) excitation system. As the Burshtyn power plant electrical power unit can operate in Ukraine’s united power system or partially in the network of Ukraine’s united power system, which functions in parallel with the ENTSO-E in the so-called “power island of the Burshtyn power plant”, the study of these cases has been carried out. In the case of the generator functioning in the network of the so-called “power island of the Burshtyn power plant”, the 220-400 kV network of the adjacent system operators and the simplified equivalent scheme of the ENTSO-E network have been considered.
